Job Description
Are you passionate about sound and eager to kickstart your career in audio production? iHeartMedia in Bakersfield is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Audio Assistant to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with little to no prior experience who are keen to learn from industry professionals. You will provide essential support to our audio engineers and producers, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced media environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop foundational skills in audio recording, mixing, editing, and live sound support, contributing to the creation of high-quality audio content for our diverse platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior audio engineers and producers with daily tasks in recording studios and live event setups.
- Set up and tear down microphones, audio cables, and other sound equipment.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and ensure all gear is properly organized and stored.
- Support recording sessions by slating takes, managing session files, and operating basic recording software under supervision.
- Assist with audio file management, labeling, and archiving.
- Conduct sound checks and troubleshoot minor audio issues during productions or broadcasts.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in studio spaces and equipment storage areas.
- Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and studio best practices.
Required Skills
- Eagerness to learn and a strong passion for audio production and media.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., file management, Google Suite or Microsoft Office).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Reliability and punctuality are a must.
- Physical ability to lift and move audio equipment (up to 50 lbs) as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of audio concepts or music theory.
- Familiarity with any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Audition).
- Experience with musical instruments or live sound setups (even hobbyist level).
- A portfolio of personal audio projects (even if amateur) demonstrating interest.
