Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Chemist to join our analytical laboratory in New Port Richey, FL. This entry-level position is perfect for recent graduates or individuals looking to start their career in chemistry. We offer comprehensive paid laboratory training, providing you with the foundational skills and practical experience needed to excel in a professional laboratory setting. You will work alongside experienced chemists, learning various analytical techniques and contributing to critical scientific projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine chemical analyses on samples using established protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare samples for analysis, including weighing, dissolving, and diluting.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as pH meters, spectrophotometers, and basic chromatography systems under supervision.
  • Accurately record and document all experimental data and results in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
  • Assist senior chemists with more complex analytical projects and method development.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, adhering to all safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Conduct basic quality control checks on reagents and equipment.
  • Participate in training programs to develop technical skills and knowledge of laboratory practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field (or expected completion within 6 months).
  • Basic understanding of general chemistry principles and laboratory safety practices.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on laboratory experience from academic coursework or an internship.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or ISO 17025 standards.
  • Experience with instrumental analysis techniques (e.g., UV-Vis, GC, HPLC) is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn new techniques.
