Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dynamic team. This full-time position involves working 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, ensuring continuity of care for our expectant mothers and newborns. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout their pregnancy, labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum period. You will work closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for mothers and babies. Your responsibilities will include monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, administering medications, assisting with labor progression, and providing support and education to families. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong critical thinking skills, and is dedicated to delivering high-quality, empathetic care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to laboring women, including continuous fetal monitoring, maternal assessments, and pain management.
  • Assist physicians during labor, delivery, and surgical procedures (e.g., C-sections).
  • Educate patients and their families on labor progression, pain relief options, postpartum care, and newborn care.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Support breastfeeding mothers and provide initial newborn care post-delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Required Skills

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Labor and Delivery.
  • Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient needs in a high-stress environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB).
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
