Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Transcription Specialist to join our dynamic team. This critical role involves accurately transcribing legal proceedings, dictations, and other audio recordings into written documents. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional listening skills, an in-depth understanding of legal terminology and procedures, and a proven ability to produce high-quality, error-free transcripts under tight deadlines. This is a high-pay position for a specialist who can significantly contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of our legal documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe legal dictations, court proceedings, depositions, client interviews, and other audio recordings.
- Review and proofread all transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and legal accuracy.
- Manage and prioritize multiple transcription projects to meet strict deadlines.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive legal information.
- Organize and archive transcribed documents electronically and physically as required.
- Collaborate with legal professionals to clarify unclear audio or terminology.
- Operate and maintain transcription equipment and software proficiently.
- Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical guidelines regarding documentation.
Required Skills
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 80 WPM).
- Proficiency in legal terminology, procedures, and court rules.
- Advanced knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with transcription software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent listening and comprehension abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
- Certification in Legal Transcription or Medical/Legal Transcription.
- Familiarity with various legal specialties (e.g., civil litigation, corporate law, real estate law).
- Experience with digital dictation systems and document management platforms.
