Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Luxury Nursing Home Porter to join our esteemed team in Sunderland. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our luxury facility, contributing directly to the comfort and well-being of our residents. The ideal candidate will be proactive, discreet, and possess a strong work ethic. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the nursing and care staff, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, tidiness, and resident satisfaction in a quiet and respectful environment. Uniform will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with movement and transportation within the facility, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Support nursing and care staff by transporting equipment, supplies, and laundry.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in communal areas, resident rooms (when vacant), and service areas.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks and report any larger issues to the maintenance team.
- Assist with setting up and clearing dining areas and communal spaces for activities.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure all areas are kept presentable and welcoming for residents and visitors.
- Adhere to all health and safety, hygiene, and safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Foster a quiet and respectful atmosphere, mindful of residents' needs and privacy.

- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move equipment and assist residents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to elderly residents.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a care home, hotel, or similar service environment.
- Basic first aid certification.
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques.
- An understanding of the needs of elderly individuals, especially those with dementia or mobility issues.
