Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk with a strong focus on healthcare administration and proficiency in Excel. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to contribute to our mission of providing world-class patient care from the comfort of your home. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, and supporting administrative tasks within our dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent data entry skills, a keen eye for detail, and a foundational understanding of medical terminology.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and organize patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Perform data entry into electronic health record (EHR) systems and maintain data integrity using Excel spreadsheets.
- Retrieve and file patient information as requested by healthcare professionals, adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines (HIPAA).
- Audit medical records for compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Assist with administrative duties, including scheduling, correspondence, and report generation.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve discrepancies in medical documentation.
- Ensure timely and accurate release of information according to established protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with healthcare regulations and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas, sorting/filtering)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion (HIPAA compliance)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Office Technology, or a related field
- Previous experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or similar credential
- 1+ year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
