Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night Shift Care Assistant to join our team in Vallejo. This unique role is designed for individuals who thrive in a tranquil setting, providing essential care during the quieter hours. You will be instrumental in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our residents throughout the night. This position offers a premium hourly rate, acknowledging the vital contribution of our night staff in maintaining our high standards of care in a calm and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, with dignity and respect.
- Assist residents with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment as needed.
- Monitor residents' vital signs and document observations accurately, reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Respond promptly and compassionately to resident call lights and requests.
- Assist residents with medication reminders as directed by nursing staff.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents, including light housekeeping tasks.
- Document care provided and maintain accurate resident records.
- Foster a calm and supportive atmosphere during night shifts, respecting residents' sleep and rest.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in shift handovers and relay important information to the oncoming team.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to empathize with and provide compassionate care to residents.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Physical ability to assist residents with mobility and transfers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or elder care setting, particularly in a night shift role.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
