Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Parish Nurse to join our Community & Church Outreach team. This role is crucial in promoting health and wellness within specific faith-based communities in Black Diamond Hills and surrounding areas, providing holistic care that integrates spiritual and physical well-being. The Parish Nurse will serve as a health educator, resource coordinator, and advocate, working collaboratively with church leaders and community members to identify health needs and implement supportive programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide health education and counseling to individuals and groups on various health topics, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Serve as a liaison between the faith community and healthcare systems, assisting individuals in navigating healthcare services and accessing appropriate resources.
- Offer spiritual support and integrate faith traditions into the healing process as appropriate and requested by individuals.
- Develop and implement health promotion programs, screenings, and workshops tailored to the needs of the church and wider community.
- Act as a health advocate for community members, especially vulnerable populations, ensuring access to necessary care and social services.
- Collaborate with church leadership, volunteers, and other community partners to identify health priorities and foster a supportive environment.
- Maintain confidential health records and provide basic health assessments and referrals.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain current knowledge of community health trends and best practices.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in community health, public health, or a related clinical setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and faith-based communities.
- Proficiency in health assessment, education, and patient advocacy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Experience working in a church or faith-based community setting.
- Understanding of the principles of holistic health and spiritual care.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Tagalog) relevant to the local community demographics.
- Certification in Parish Nursing or Community Health Nursing.
