Job Description
Join the Cleveland Metroparks team for an exciting summer season as a Park Bench & Picnic Table Painter. This vital role contributes directly to the aesthetic appeal and visitor experience across our diverse park system. You will be responsible for the preparation and painting of park amenities, ensuring they are well-maintained and welcoming. This is an excellent opportunity to work outdoors, gain hands-on experience, and make a tangible impact on your community.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting, which may include scraping, sanding, cleaning, and power washing.
- Apply paint, stain, and sealant to park benches, picnic tables, signposts, and other wooden or metal amenities.
- Ensure consistent and professional finishes, adhering to color standards and quality guidelines.
- Operate and maintain painting equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Monitor paint and supply inventory, reporting needs to supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Work independently or as part of a small team to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Basic knowledge of painting techniques or a strong willingness to learn.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in painting, general maintenance, or a related field.
- Experience working with power tools or painting equipment.
- Knowledge of safety practices related to painting and outdoor work.
- Valid Ohio Driver's License and a clean driving record.
