Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-time Life Skills Instructor to join our team at the New Port Richey community center. This role focuses on empowering individuals, particularly youth and young adults, with essential life skills necessary for personal growth, independence, and successful community integration. The instructor will develop and deliver engaging workshops and activities covering a range of topics, fostering a supportive and interactive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging curriculum for life skills workshops (e.g., financial literacy, job readiness, communication, problem-solving, healthy relationships).
  • Facilitate group discussions and activities that encourage participation and practical application of learned skills.
  • Assess participant needs and tailor instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
  • Provide one-on-one guidance and mentorship as appropriate, offering constructive feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with community center staff to promote programs and identify additional resources for participants.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and workshop effectiveness.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all participants.
  • Stay informed on best practices in life skills education and community development.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in teaching, training, or group facilitation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging, interactive lesson plans.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for youth development and community empowerment.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail for record-keeping and program planning.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Certification in specific life skills areas (e.g., financial counseling, career coaching).
  • Experience working within a non-profit or community center setting.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
