Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Purchasing Agent to join our dedicated supply chain team in Boulder, CO. This vital role is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective procurement of pharmaceutical products, ensuring adequate inventory levels, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy operations and supply chain logistics. You will play a crucial part in supporting our pharmacists and healthcare professionals by ensuring they have the necessary medications to deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for pharmaceutical products, including ordering, receiving, and inventory control.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable supply agreements.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts and minimize waste, utilizing inventory management software effectively.
- Process invoices, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate record-keeping of all purchasing activities.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare staff to understand their needs and anticipate future demand.
- Stay informed about market trends, drug shortages, and new product releases.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to pharmaceutical purchasing and storage.
- Maintain organized and accessible purchasing records and documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the pharmacy supply chain.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical purchasing or supply chain management.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and purchasing software.
- Demonstrated negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical products, medical terminology, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential.
- Experience with Kaiser Permanente's internal systems and procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
