Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician II at CVS Health in Indianapolis, you will play a crucial role in supporting our pharmacists and ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy. This advanced role involves greater responsibility, opportunities for specialization, and a clear path for career progression within CVS Health. You will assist with prescription processing, inventory management, patient counseling support, and maintaining accurate patient records, all while adhering to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and patient care. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately process and fill prescriptions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications to prevent shortages and waste.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries and assisting with non-clinical questions in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Assist pharmacists with patient medication reviews and perform data entry for insurance processing, ensuring accurate billing.
  • Maintain precise patient profiles and pharmacy records, upholding strict confidentiality and data accuracy standards.
  • Support the training and mentorship of new or junior pharmacy technicians, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and compound medications as directed by the pharmacist, including sterile and non-sterile preparations (if applicable to specific site and training).
  • Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimization within the pharmacy workflow.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required through PTCB or NHA.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and accurate data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Solid knowledge of medical terminology, common drug names, and basic pharmacy calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in a related healthcare field.
  • Experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting with advanced responsibilities or specialization.
  • Familiarity with specialty medication programs or sterile compounding techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish) is a significant advantage due to diverse patient populations.
