Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physiotherapy Aide to join our professional team at our busy private practice in Downtown Halifax. As a Physiotherapy Aide, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Registered Physiotherapists and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong interpersonal skills and a keen interest in healthcare to contribute to patient well-being and gain valuable experience in a clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment areas and equipment for patient sessions, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist physiotherapists with patient care, including setting up exercises, applying modalities (e.g., heat packs, ice packs), and guiding patients through prescribed routines.
  • Sterilize and maintain all physiotherapy equipment and treatment areas according to health and safety protocols.
  • Manage clinic laundry, ensuring a sufficient supply of clean linens.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient intake forms, and maintaining patient records.
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to patients, answering questions and directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Monitor inventory of clinical supplies and assist with ordering and stocking.
  • Support front desk operations as needed, including answering phones and processing payments.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all patients and staff.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
  • Physical ability to assist patients with mobility and perform light lifting.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare, clinic, or customer service setting.
  • Post-secondary education or certification in a related field (e.g., Medical Office Assistant, Health Care Aide).
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
