Job Description

This entry-level Public Utilities Drone Pilot Trainee position offers a unique opportunity to launch your career in aerial surveying and infrastructure management. You will undergo comprehensive training to operate advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for inspecting critical utility infrastructure, including power lines, pipelines, and substations. This role is perfect for individuals eager to learn, technologically inclined, and committed to safety and precision in a dynamic outdoor environment. You will work alongside experienced pilots and engineers, contributing to the reliability and efficiency of our public utility services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all required drone operation and safety training programs.
  • Learn to plan and execute safe and efficient drone flight missions for data collection.
  • Assist in pre-flight checks, maintenance, and post-flight data management of UAS equipment.
  • Support the collection of high-resolution aerial imagery and video for inspection purposes.
  • Learn to interpret aerial data to identify potential infrastructure issues or maintenance needs.
  • Adhere strictly to all FAA regulations, company safety protocols, and operational guidelines.
  • Collaborate with engineering and field operations teams to understand data requirements.
  • Document flight logs, maintenance records, and inspection findings accurately.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interest in drone technology and aerial data collection.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures quickly.
  • Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., GIS, Aviation, Engineering Technology).
  • Prior experience with remote-controlled aircraft or drones.
  • Familiarity with basic mapping or geospatial concepts.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).
