Job Description
Join the Layton City Recreation team as a Part-time Swim Assistant for our weekend poolside operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to support our aquatics staff, ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for pool users, and contribute to community well-being. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of our busy pool area during peak weekend hours, assisting with a variety of tasks from equipment setup to light supervision. Key Responsibilities
- Assist certified lifeguards with general pool supervision, ensuring adherence to safety rules.
- Monitor pool deck and water areas for potential hazards and report concerns promptly.
- Help with the setup and breakdown of aquatic equipment for lessons and open swim sessions.
- Provide basic first aid assistance and support in emergency situations, under supervision.
- Engage positively with pool patrons, answering questions and providing directions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool deck, changing rooms, and equipment storage areas.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as checking in patrons or managing attendance records, as needed.
- Attend regular training sessions and staff meetings to stay updated on safety protocols and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to swim competently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and observational abilities.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be available to work weekend shifts (Saturdays and/or Sundays).
Preferred Qualifications
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Previous experience in a recreational or customer service setting.
- Knowledge of pool safety regulations and procedures.
- Experience working with children or diverse age groups.
