Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled QC Microbiology Chemist to join our specialized laboratory team in Carmel, Indiana. This role is critical for ensuring the quality and safety of our pharmaceutical products through rigorous microbiological testing and analysis. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with aseptic techniques, environmental monitoring, and microbial identification. You will be responsible for conducting specialized assays, interpreting results, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within our Quality Control department. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products according to cGMP guidelines and SOPs.
  • Execute specialized microbial identification techniques and assays.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring of manufacturing facilities and utility systems.
  • Accurately record, analyze, and interpret test data, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, perform calibrations, and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, and present findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of new microbiological test methods.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards in all laboratory operations.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as a subject matter expert.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a GMP-regulated microbiology laboratory.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques and environmental monitoring.
  • Experience with microbial identification methods (e.g., Gram stain, biochemical tests, rapid methods).
  • Strong understanding of cGMP, GLP, and pharmacopoeial requirements.
  • Excellent data analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Microbiology or a related field.
  • Experience with advanced microbial identification technologies (e.g., MALDI-TOF, DNA sequencing).
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Experience in a sterile manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical quality control systems and regulations.
