Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiology Nurse (RN) to join our Imaging Support team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing various diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. This position offers stable hours, allowing for a predictable schedule and work-life balance. You will be responsible for patient assessment, preparation, monitoring during procedures, and post-procedure care, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their imaging journey. This role requires excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient health status prior to radiology procedures, including reviewing medical history, allergies, and current medications.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including starting IVs, administering pre-procedure medications, and providing clear instructions.
- Monitor patients closely during diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures, identifying and responding to changes in vital signs or patient condition.
- Administer conscious sedation and other medications as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Provide post-procedure care, monitoring for complications, assisting with recovery, and providing discharge instructions.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and comprehensively in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all infection control policies and procedures.
- Educate patients and their families about procedures, potential risks, and post-procedure care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to enhance professional growth and patient outcomes.
Required Skills
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Indiana.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN, preferably in a critical care, emergency, or procedural setting.
- Proficiency in IV insertion and venipuncture.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Experience in radiology, interventional cardiology, or a cath lab.
- Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience with conscious sedation administration and monitoring.
