Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative R&D Scientist to join our dynamic Pharmaceutical R&D team in Berkeley, CA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development projects aimed at discovering and developing novel therapeutic solutions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, executing, and analyzing complex experiments, advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms, and progressing potential new drug candidates through the pipeline. This position requires a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related life science discipline, coupled with hands-on laboratory experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute complex experiments related to drug discovery and development, ensuring scientific rigor and data integrity.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings clearly and concisely to multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop and optimize assays for target validation, compound screening, and mechanism of action studies.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of R&D projects, meeting timelines and project milestones.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experimental procedures and results in accordance with company standards.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature, technologies, and industry trends to inform research strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across various departments, including medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and contribute to scientific publications and patent applications.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in pharmaceutical R&D.
- Proficiency in a wide range of laboratory techniques including cell culture, molecular cloning, protein expression/purification, qPCR, Western blotting, and ELISA.
- Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience interpreting complex biological data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex scientific information effectively.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-throughput screening technologies and automation.
- Familiarity with drug discovery processes, from target identification to lead optimization.
- Knowledge of GxP regulations and experience working in a regulated environment.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and statistical software for data analysis.
- Track record of scientific publications or presentations at major conferences.
