Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Rehabilitation Nurse with a strong focus on orthopedic recovery to join our dynamic team in New Port Richey, FL. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in the recovery journey of patients recovering from orthopedic injuries, surgeries, or conditions, helping them regain independence and improve their quality of life. You will develop and implement individualized care plans, provide patient and family education, and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patient's physical and functional status, including range of motion, strength, mobility, and activities of daily living (ADLs), specifically for orthopedic conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans based on patient assessments and physician orders, with a focus on rehabilitation goals.
  • Provide direct patient care, including wound care, pain management, medication administration, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Educate patients and their families on orthopedic conditions, post-surgical care, medication regimens, assistive devices, and home exercise programs.
  • Collaborate effectively with physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Monitor patient progress, document findings accurately, and adjust care plans as necessary to achieve rehabilitation milestones.
  • Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, and therapeutic exercises as directed by therapists.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, adhering to all hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in discharge planning to facilitate a smooth transition for patients returning home or to a lower level of care.

Required Skills

  • Current RN license in the state of Florida.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in orthopedic care or rehabilitation nursing.
  • BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) certification.
  • Previous experience in an acute care or inpatient rehabilitation setting.
  • Familiarity with orthopedic surgical procedures and recovery protocols.
