Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Remote Student Data Specialist with a strong research focus to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the meticulous collection, organization, analysis, and reporting of student data to support various educational research initiatives. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of data management principles, and an ability to contribute to meaningful insights that drive educational innovation. You will collaborate with researchers, data scientists, and educational stakeholders to ensure the integrity and utility of our student datasets for impactful studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, and maintain large datasets of student information from various sources.
  • Perform data cleaning, transformation, and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Execute data queries and generate reports to support specific research projects and analytical requests.
  • Collaborate with research teams to understand data requirements and provide analytical support.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data collection protocols and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA) and internal data security policies.
  • Document data processes, definitions, and data dictionaries.
  • Identify and troubleshoot data-related issues, working towards effective resolutions.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in data management and analysis software (e.g., SQL, Excel, R, Python for data manipulation).
  • Strong understanding of data validation, cleaning, and quality assurance techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with educational data systems or student information systems (SIS).
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
