Job Description

Join Western Governors University as a Remote Student Support Specialist and become a vital part of our students’ educational journey. This is a fully remote, work-from-home opportunity designed for individuals passionate about helping others succeed. In this role, you will provide comprehensive support to WGU students, guiding them through various aspects of their academic experience, from technical assistance to navigating university resources. You will be the first point of contact for many, offering empathetic, knowledgeable, and timely assistance to ensure a smooth and successful learning path for our diverse student population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student inquiries via phone, email, and chat.
  • Provide guidance and support on WGU policies, procedures, and academic resources.
  • Assist students with technical issues related to learning platforms and university systems.
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate departments (e.g., academic advising, financial aid) while maintaining communication with the student.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student interactions and resolutions.
  • Educate students on self-service resources and tools available to them.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve student experience and resolve systemic issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of support processes and knowledge base articles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience).

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or CRM software.
  • Experience working in a remote or virtual environment.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
