Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Retail Distribution Driver to join our night shift team in Pasadena, CA. This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods from our distribution center to various Ralphs store locations across Southern California. As a night shift driver, you will be instrumental in ensuring our stores are prepared for the next day’s business. This position offers premium pay for night operations and requires a strong commitment to safety, timeliness, and excellent customer service. You will operate modern fleet vehicles, handle freight with care, and adhere to all DOT regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks (e.g., tractor-trailers, box trucks) for local retail distribution routes during night hours.
- Transport a variety of goods, including perishable and non-perishable items, to designated Ralphs store locations.
- Adhere strictly to assigned delivery schedules and routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight at the distribution center and store locations using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, manifest, and other required documentation.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, store personnel, and supervisors.
- Ensure the security and integrity of transported goods.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years (24 months) of verifiable commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry freight up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive motions
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with refrigerated freight and multi-stop deliveries
- Proficiency in operating lift gates and pallet jacks
- Familiarity with Southern California roadways and delivery locations
- Strong customer service orientation
