Job Description

Are you passionate about video games and eager to kickstart a career in game development? Ubisoft is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Scripting Assistant (QA) to join our 100% remote team. This entry-level role is a unique opportunity to learn the ropes of game development through the lens of quality assurance and scripting. You will work closely with our development teams, contributing to the quality and functionality of our games by assisting with scripting, testing, and debugging. This position is perfect for individuals with a foundational understanding of scripting logic and a keen eye for detail, who are ready to learn and grow within a leading global game developer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior QA and development teams with script creation and modification for testing purposes.
  • Execute test plans, identify bugs, and report issues with clear and concise descriptions.
  • Perform root cause analysis for identified defects related to scripting.
  • Collaborate with developers to understand game features and their underlying technical implementation.
  • Contribute to the improvement of testing methodologies and tools.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of testing procedures and results.
  • Actively participate in learning sessions and workshops to enhance game development knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Lua, C#) or logical programming concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
  • Passion for video games and a strong desire to learn about game development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) or game development tools.
  • Prior experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce).
  • Completed courses or personal projects related to game design or programming.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new tools and technologies.
