Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Formulation Chemist to lead a dynamic team in our Anaheim R&D center. As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for spearheading the development of cutting-edge chemical formulations for a variety of applications, from personal care to industrial solutions. This role requires a blend of advanced technical expertise in formulation science, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for innovation. You will guide your team through the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring projects meet rigorous performance, quality, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of formulation chemists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Design, develop, and optimize new chemical formulations from concept to pilot scale, ensuring stability, efficacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct comprehensive experimental studies, analyze data, and provide technical guidance for complex formulation challenges.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, setting priorities, timelines, and resource allocation to meet departmental and company goals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing teams to ensure seamless product transfer and launch.
- Implement and maintain robust quality control procedures and documentation for all formulated products.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes to drive continuous innovation.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and patent applications as required.
Required Skills
- Expertise in chemical formulation principles and techniques (emulsions, suspensions, gels, etc.).
- Strong understanding of material science, polymer chemistry, and surfactant chemistry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of technical professionals.
- Proficiency in analytical instrumentation (e.g., rheometry, particle sizing, FTIR, GC-MS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to experimental design (DOE).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong project management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- Experience with regulatory frameworks relevant to the chemical industry (e.g., FDA, EPA, REACH).
- Knowledge of statistical analysis software.
- Prior experience in consumer goods, personal care, or specialty chemicals formulation.
- Proven track record of successful product launches.
