Job Description

As a Senior Regulatory Affairs Chemist focusing on Global Compliance at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a critical role in ensuring our products meet all relevant international chemical and product safety regulations. You will be responsible for interpreting complex global regulatory requirements, managing product registrations, and ensuring the timely submission of accurate documentation. This role requires a deep understanding of chemical regulations, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to compliance in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply global chemical regulations (e.g., REACH, CLP, GHS, TSCA, K-REACH, China RoHS, etc.) to product portfolios.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory dossiers, product registrations, and notifications to various national and international authorities.
  • Develop, maintain, and review Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and labels for chemical products in compliance with regional requirements.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Monitor changes in global regulatory landscapes and assess their impact on existing and new products.
  • Provide expert guidance on product classification, hazard communication, and chemical inventory listings.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and inspections, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for regulatory processes and systems.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs within the chemical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of global chemical regulations (e.g., REACH, GHS, TSCA, CLP).
  • Proven experience in authoring and reviewing Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and product labels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory information clearly.
  • Proficiency with regulatory software and database systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Certifications in Regulatory Affairs (e.g., RAC).
  • Experience with global product registrations beyond Europe and North America.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations.
  • Project management experience.
