Job Description
We are seeking talented and versatile Session Musicians to collaborate on various recording projects within our Mount Pleasant studio. This is a per-project contract role, perfect for skilled instrumentalists and vocalists who thrive in a professional studio environment and can contribute high-quality performances efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional musicality, sight-reading abilities, improvisational skills, and a strong understanding of studio etiquette. You will work closely with artists, producers, and engineers to bring musical visions to life, delivering polished and emotionally resonant tracks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform instrumental or vocal parts as directed by producers and artists during recording sessions.
- Sight-read musical charts, lead sheets, or chord progressions accurately and efficiently.
- Contribute creative and tasteful musical ideas when appropriate and requested.
- Maintain a high level of technical proficiency on your instrument(s) or voice.
- Demonstrate versatility across multiple genres and musical styles.
- Adhere to studio timelines and project deadlines.
- Collaborate professionally and effectively with all project stakeholders.
- Arrive prepared for sessions with your instrument(s) in good working order.
Required Skills
- Exceptional proficiency on primary instrument(s) (e.g., guitar, bass, drums, piano, strings, brass, woodwinds, vocals).
- Strong sight-reading skills for various musical notations.
- Proven ability to record clean, professional-grade takes in a studio setting.
- Excellent rhythmic accuracy and pitch control.
- Versatility across multiple musical genres (e.g., pop, rock, jazz, country, R&B, classical).
- Professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Effective communication and collaborative skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, Composition, or a related field.
- Experience with advanced studio techniques and microphone placement.
- Ability to improvise and create parts independently when required.
- Proficiency with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) for basic editing or self-recording demos.
- A strong portfolio of previous studio session work.
- Availability for flexible scheduling on short notice.
