Job Description
Join Guitar Center’s dynamic creative studio as a Songwriting Coach and inspire the next generation of musical talent. This flexible, part-time role is perfect for passionate songwriters eager to share their expertise in composition, lyricism, melody, and arrangement. You will guide students through the songwriting process, from initial concept to polished demo, within our vibrant studio environment. We are looking for an individual who can adapt their teaching style to various skill levels and musical genres, fostering a creative and encouraging atmosphere for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group songwriting instruction tailored to individual student needs and goals.
- Guide students through all phases of songwriting, including lyric development, melody creation, harmony, arrangement, and song structure.
- Offer constructive feedback and practical exercises to enhance students' creative expression and technical skills.
- Assist students in developing their unique artistic voice and overcoming creative blocks.
- Familiarize students with basic music theory concepts relevant to songwriting.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and inspiring learning environment.
- Document student progress and communicate effectively with studio management.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in songwriting across multiple genres.
- Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, and song structure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all ages and skill levels.
- Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) for basic demo production.
- Portfolio of original musical compositions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music, Composition, or a related field.
- Previous experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring aspiring musicians.
- Knowledge of current music industry trends and practices.
- Ability to play at least one instrument (e.g., guitar, piano) proficiently.
