Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Student Affairs Director to lead our student support services in Slough. This critical role involves overseeing all aspects of student welfare, compliance with UKVI regulations, and ensuring a positive and enriching experience for our diverse international student body. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in student services, a deep understanding of immigration policies, and a passion for supporting students from around the world. Visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Student Affairs department, including line management of student welfare officers and support staff.
- Develop and implement comprehensive student welfare policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Ensure full compliance with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations, including student visa sponsorship duties and reporting.
- Oversee pastoral care, student conduct, disciplinary processes, and crisis management.
- Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the welfare and protection of all students.
- Collaborate with academic departments, admissions, and external agencies to enhance student experience.
- Manage student induction, orientation programmes, and ongoing support services.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and university partners.
- Monitor student satisfaction and implement improvements based on feedback.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a senior student affairs or welfare role, preferably within an international education setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UKVI regulations pertaining to international students and visa sponsorship.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and cross-cultural communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive student issues with discretion and empathy.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in relevant IT systems and data management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
- Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Knowledge of wider UK education sector policies and best practices.
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to our student demographic.
