Job Description

Are you a highly motivated student eager to kickstart your career in the legal field? Morgan & Morgan is seeking a dedicated Student Legal Assistant to join our thriving New Port Richey office. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals looking to gain practical, hands-on experience within a fast-paced and supportive law firm environment. You will work closely with attorneys and paralegals, providing essential administrative and legal support, and learning the foundational elements of legal practice. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with case management, including organizing documents, maintaining files, and tracking deadlines.
  • Conduct basic legal research under supervision, gathering information pertinent to ongoing cases.
  • Draft and proofread legal correspondence, memos, and other documents.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel as directed.
  • Manage and organize physical and electronic files to ensure efficient retrieval of information.
  • Prepare exhibits, binders, and other materials for hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and making copies.
  • Support the intake process for new clients, including data entry and initial documentation.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, preferably with an interest in law or pre-law studies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an office environment, even if not legal-specific.
  • Basic understanding of legal terminology or procedures.
