Job Description
Are you a motivated student seeking to gain valuable leadership experience in a dynamic warehouse environment? Amazon is looking for an energetic and reliable Student Warehouse Lead to join our fast-paced operations in Katy, Texas. This part-time role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills while contributing to the efficient flow of goods. As a Student Warehouse Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth daily operations, guiding fellow associates, and maintaining high standards of safety and productivity. This on-site position requires a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative and demanding setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating daily warehouse activities, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping.
- Provide guidance and support to new and existing warehouse associates.
- Monitor productivity and quality metrics, ensuring adherence to operational goals.
- Help maintain a safe and organized work environment, enforcing safety protocols.
- Identify and resolve operational issues under the supervision of full-time management.
- Participate in training and development initiatives for the team.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding operational status and challenges.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program.
- Minimum of 12 months experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 49 pounds.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience, even in a non-warehouse setting.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Ability to operate power industrial trucks (PIT) such as forklifts or pallet jacks (certification not required, but experience is a plus).
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Availability to commit to the role for at least 6 months.
