Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated IV Certified Pharmacy Technician with specialized expertise in sterile compounding to join our dynamic team in Las Colinas. This is a critical role responsible for the precise and safe preparation of sterile products, including intravenous (IV) admixtures, chemotherapy, and other parenteral medications, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and compliance with all regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of aseptic technique, quality control, and an unwavering commitment to accuracy. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and other parenteral medications accurately and efficiently, adhering to strict aseptic technique and compounding guidelines.
- Operate and maintain sterile compounding equipment, including laminar airflow workstations (LAFWs) and biological safety cabinets (BSCs).
- Perform environmental monitoring, cleaning, and sanitization of sterile compounding areas in accordance with USP <797> and <800> standards.
- Conduct quality control checks on compounded products, ensuring proper labeling, expiration dates, and physical integrity.
- Manage and maintain inventory of sterile compounding supplies and medications, including ordering, receiving, and rotating stock.
- Accurately document all compounding activities, quality control measures, and medication records.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and safe medication delivery.
- Participate in ongoing training and continuing education to stay current with best practices in sterile compounding and pharmacy operations.
- Identify and report any medication errors, adverse drug reactions, or safety concerns.
Required Skills
- Active IV Certification
- Current PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) Certification
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sterile compounding within a hospital or institutional pharmacy setting
- Expertise in aseptic technique and knowledge of USP <797> and <800> guidelines
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate dose calculation and measurement
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and automation
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Experience with CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry) systems
- Advanced sterile compounding certification or specialized training
- Previous experience with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems
