Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Studio Recording Engineer to join our night shift team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to work with top-tier recording equipment and contribute to a wide range of musical and audio projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of audio principles, a keen ear for detail, and a proven ability to operate advanced studio hardware and software. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the flawless execution of recording, mixing, and mastering sessions during overnight hours, providing a seamless and high-quality experience for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a wide array of studio equipment, including large-format consoles, analog gear, and digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live.
- Set up microphones, calibrate equipment, and ensure optimal signal flow for recording sessions.
- Record, mix, and master audio for various genres and media, ensuring high fidelity and artistic integrity.
- Work closely with artists and producers to capture their vision and provide creative input when necessary.
- Troubleshoot technical issues efficiently and maintain a clean, organized, and fully functional studio environment.
- Adhere to strict studio policies and procedures, including data backup and archival processes.
- Provide exceptional client service, maintaining a professional and supportive atmosphere during night sessions.
- Collaborate with the daytime engineering team to ensure smooth transitions between shifts and projects.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in audio engineering.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Pro Tools and at least one other major DAW (Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Cubase, etc.)
- Expert knowledge of microphone selection, placement, and recording techniques.
- Strong understanding of mixing and mastering principles, including dynamics processing, equalization, and effects.
- Familiarity with analog and digital signal processing hardware and software.
- Excellent ear training and critical listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently during night shifts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Proven problem-solving abilities for technical issues in a studio setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
- Experience with various music genres, including rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic, and orchestral.
- Knowledge of studio acoustics and room treatment principles.
- Basic soldering and electronics troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with post-production audio for film, TV, or gaming.
- Portfolio demonstrating a range of high-quality recording, mixing, and mastering work.
