Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Texture & Material Tagger with a strong 3D design focus to join our dynamic team in Guildford. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately categorizing, tagging, and organizing a vast library of textures and materials used across our various projects and the Unreal Engine ecosystem. Your keen eye for detail and understanding of 3D asset pipelines will be crucial in ensuring our artists and developers can efficiently locate and utilize the highest quality assets. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately tag and categorize 3D textures and materials based on established taxonomies and project-specific requirements.
  • Perform quality control checks on existing asset tags and metadata to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with 3D artists, material artists, and content developers to understand their needs and refine tagging conventions.
  • Identify and report any issues with texture or material assets, including missing data or incorrect properties.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal tagging tools and processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry-standard material properties, rendering techniques, and 3D design principles.
  • Assist in curating and organizing large asset libraries to enhance searchability and usability.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrable understanding of 3D art pipelines and material creation principles.
  • Familiarity with various texture types (e.g., Albedo, Normal, Roughness, Metalness) and their uses.
  • Proficiency with 3D software such as Unreal Engine, Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in 3D Art, Game Design, Computer Graphics, or a related field.
  • Experience with asset management systems or digital asset librarianship.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data processing or automation.
  • Understanding of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) workflows.
  • Prior experience in a tagging, data entry, or asset management role within a creative industry.
