Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Think Tank Librarian with a strong focus on Information Management to join our dedicated research team in Old Town Victorville. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing, organizing, and disseminating critical information resources that fuel our policy analysis and research initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in library science principles combined with a keen understanding of data management, digital asset management, and information retrieval systems within a fast-paced, research-intensive environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our researchers have immediate access to the most relevant and accurate information, contributing directly to the quality and impact of our work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust information management systems and policies.
- Curate and manage extensive collections of digital and physical resources pertinent to RAND's research areas.
- Provide expert research support and information literacy training to researchers and staff.
- Oversee the cataloging, indexing, and classification of research materials and institutional knowledge.
- Evaluate and recommend new information technologies, databases, and research tools.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, intellectual property, and privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with IT and research teams to optimize information flow and accessibility.
- Prepare detailed reports and analyses on information usage and resource effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a research library, think tank, or similar information-intensive environment.
- Proven expertise in information management systems, database administration, and digital asset management.
- Strong knowledge of research methodologies, information retrieval techniques, and bibliographic tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with library management software and research databases (e.g., ProQuest, EBSCO, Factiva).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with knowledge management platforms and intranets.
- Familiarity with public policy research, defense studies, or social sciences disciplines.
- Certification in a relevant information management field (e.g., CKM, PMP).
- Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
- Proficiency in scripting languages for data processing (e.g., Python, R).
