Job Description
Are you eager to learn a valuable trade and kickstart a rewarding career in construction? Bernards is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Tiler Assistants. This is an incredible opportunity to learn the high-demand skill of tile installation from experienced professionals. You’ll gain hands-on experience, receive weekly pay, and contribute to significant projects throughout the Chula Vista area. No prior experience is required – just a strong work ethic and a desire to learn!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced tilers with the preparation of surfaces, including cleaning, leveling, and applying waterproofing membranes.
- Mix and apply mortar, grout, and other adhesive materials accurately.
- Cut tiles to size and shape using appropriate tools under supervision.
- Transport materials and tools to and from the work area.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including disposing of debris and cleaning tools.
- Learn and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Follow instructions from lead tilers and supervisors to ensure high-quality workmanship.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and willingness to learn the tiling trade.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools or experience in a general labor role.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
