Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all aspects of the comprehensive paid clinical training program.
- Learn and master venipuncture techniques for various patient populations (adult, pediatric, geriatric).
- Understand and adhere to strict patient identification protocols to ensure accurate sample collection.
- Familiarize yourself with different blood collection tubes, their additives, and order of draw.
- Practice proper specimen labeling, handling, and transportation procedures.
- Learn and strictly follow all safety, infection control, and OSHA guidelines.
- Develop strong communication skills for effective patient interaction and education.
- Document all procedures accurately and completely according to Quest Diagnostics' standards.
- Assist experienced phlebotomists and laboratory personnel as directed during the training period.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Commitment to learning and professional development.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in customer service or patient-facing roles.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
- CPR/BLS certification (can be obtained during training).
- Multilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a plus in diverse communities.
