Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all aspects of the comprehensive paid clinical training program.
  • Learn and master venipuncture techniques for various patient populations (adult, pediatric, geriatric).
  • Understand and adhere to strict patient identification protocols to ensure accurate sample collection.
  • Familiarize yourself with different blood collection tubes, their additives, and order of draw.
  • Practice proper specimen labeling, handling, and transportation procedures.
  • Learn and strictly follow all safety, infection control, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Develop strong communication skills for effective patient interaction and education.
  • Document all procedures accurately and completely according to Quest Diagnostics' standards.
  • Assist experienced phlebotomists and laboratory personnel as directed during the training period.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Commitment to learning and professional development.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in customer service or patient-facing roles.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • CPR/BLS certification (can be obtained during training).
  • Multilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a plus in diverse communities.
