Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer with a strong focus on Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and OSHA compliance to join our team. This WFH Hybrid role involves ensuring adherence to all safety regulations, developing and implementing safety programs, conducting site inspections, and fostering a culture of safety across our operations in the Wesley Chapel region. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in safety management within a logistics or similar fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive WHS programs and policies in line with UPS standards and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and work practices to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide expert guidance and training to employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and proper use of safety equipment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant local, state, and federal safety regulations, particularly OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Prepare and submit accurate safety reports, records, and documentation as required by company policy and regulatory bodies.
- Lead safety committee meetings and initiatives, fostering employee engagement in safety programs.
- Implement and monitor health and safety metrics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a dedicated safety role, preferably within logistics, transportation, or manufacturing.
- Demonstrated expertise in OSHA regulations and compliance (e.g., General Industry, Construction, or Maritime standards relevant to UPS operations).
- Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively train and influence employees at all levels.
- Proficiency in conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging safety training programs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for record-keeping and reporting.
- Proficiency with safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a hybrid team (remote and on-site).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
- OSHA 30-hour certification.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
- Experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
