Job Description
Are you passionate about beautiful blooms and elegant event design? The Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City is seeking a enthusiastic and creative Weekend Event Decorator Aide with a focus on floral design to join our dynamic events team. This part-time role is perfect for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced and rewarding world of hospitality events. You will assist our lead floral designers and event decorators in preparing, setting up, and dismantling exquisite floral arrangements and decorative elements for various weekend events. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead floral designers in processing, cutting, and arranging fresh flowers and greenery.
- Prepare vases, containers, and floral foam for arrangements.
- Support the setup and breakdown of event decor, including floral centerpieces, garlands, and other decorative elements.
- Transport floral arrangements and event supplies to and from event spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the floral workshop and storage areas.
- Provide support during event execution to ensure decor is perfectly placed and maintained.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with the events team and other hotel departments.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of floral care and handling techniques (or a strong willingness to learn).
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently when required.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 30 lbs), and carry items for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible weekend hours, including early mornings and late evenings as needed.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Reliable transportation to and from the hotel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in floral design, event setup, or a related creative field (personal projects count!).
- Enrollment in or completion of a floral design or hospitality program.
- Familiarity with various floral styles and event decor trends.
