Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Shopify Localization Specialist to join our dynamic e-commerce team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for adapting our Shopify storefronts and content to resonate with global markets, ensuring linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, and an optimized user experience across various regions. You will play a key role in expanding Indigo’s international digital footprint, working closely with marketing, product, and content teams to bring our brand to a diverse, global audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end localization projects for Indigo's Shopify e-commerce platforms and related digital content.
- Collaborate with translation agencies, internal content creators, and marketing teams to ensure high-quality localized output.
- Develop, implement, and maintain localization style guides, glossaries, and translation memories.
- Conduct thorough quality assurance (QA) on localized Shopify storefronts, product descriptions, and marketing materials.
- Optimize localized content for international SEO, ensuring discoverability and relevance in target markets.
- Stay current with Shopify's evolving localization features, tools, and best practices.
- Analyze localization performance metrics and user feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide expert guidance on cultural nuances and linguistic specificities for various global regions.
- Oversee the integration and utilization of localization tools and platforms to streamline workflows.
Required Skills
- Proven experience managing e-commerce localization projects, specifically on the Shopify platform.
- Strong understanding of internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) principles and best practices.
- Proficiency with localization management systems (LMS) and translation memory (TM) tools.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to linguistic accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
- Solid understanding of global SEO strategies and how they apply to multilingual content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Fluency in at least one additional major international language (e.g., French, Spanish, German, Mandarin).
- Experience with A/B testing and analytics for localized content.
- Familiarity with other e-commerce platforms or content management systems (CMS).
- Prior experience working in the retail or books and media industry.
