Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse (K-12) to join our team for the upcoming academic year. This vital role involves providing comprehensive healthcare services to students from kindergarten through 12th grade, ensuring their health and safety within the school environment. The successful candidate will manage health screenings, administer medications, respond to emergencies, and promote health education. This full-time position offers the excellent benefit of scheduled summer and winter breaks off, aligning with the school calendar, along with eligibility for a state pension plan. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and first aid to students and staff.
- Assess student health needs, develop care plans, and provide case management.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with district policy and medical orders.
- Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.) and follow-up as required.
- Manage chronic health conditions and respond to medical emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics and preventative care.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, Associate's Degree (ADN) required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric, community health, or school nursing.
- Strong assessment, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle emergencies effectively and work independently.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a School Nurse (CSN).
- Experience working in a K-12 school setting.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) capabilities.
- Experience with health education and wellness program development.
