Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Operate paratransit vehicles safely and efficiently according to all traffic laws and UTA policies.
- Assist passengers with disabilities, including boarding, de-boarding, securing wheelchairs, and providing general support as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment within the vehicle for all passengers.
- Follow scheduled routes and timelines, making adjustments as necessary for optimal service.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, passengers, and other team members.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurate daily logs.
- Handle passenger inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Adhere to all ADA compliance guidelines and maintain sensitivity to passenger needs.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.
Required Skills
- Valid Utah Driver's License (Class D minimum, CDL not required for paratransit but a plus).
- Clean driving record for the past 5 years.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to assist others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of local geography and ability to use navigation tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in customer service, healthcare, or working with individuals with disabilities.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with ADA transportation regulations.
