Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate paratransit vehicles safely and efficiently according to all traffic laws and UTA policies.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities, including boarding, de-boarding, securing wheelchairs, and providing general support as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment within the vehicle for all passengers.
  • Follow scheduled routes and timelines, making adjustments as necessary for optimal service.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, passengers, and other team members.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurate daily logs.
  • Handle passenger inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Adhere to all ADA compliance guidelines and maintain sensitivity to passenger needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.

Required Skills

  • Valid Utah Driver's License (Class D minimum, CDL not required for paratransit but a plus).
  • Clean driving record for the past 5 years.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to assist others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of local geography and ability to use navigation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in customer service, healthcare, or working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Familiarity with ADA transportation regulations.
