Job Description
Provide support to clients undergoing hydrotherapy treatments under the supervision of physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals. Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment in the aquatic therapy area. Assist with client transfers, exercise supervision, and equipment maintenance. This role requires compassion, attention to detail, and a commitment to client well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physiotherapists and other clinical staff during hydrotherapy sessions.
- Supervise clients in the pool, ensuring adherence to exercise protocols and safety guidelines.
- Prepare and maintain the hydrotherapy pool area, including checking water quality and cleanliness.
- Assist with safe client transfers into and out of the pool.
- Monitor client comfort and respond to immediate needs during sessions.
- Maintain accurate client records and session documentation as required.
- Ensure all hydrotherapy equipment is clean, functional, and stored properly.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and infection control policies.
Required Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
- Physical stamina and strength for assisting with client transfers and pool duties.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Demonstrated empathy and patience when working with clients with diverse needs.
- Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare support role, especially in rehabilitation or aquatic environments.
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant or related program.
- Certification in Water Safety or Lifeguarding (e.g., NLS).
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.
