Job Description

Provide support to clients undergoing hydrotherapy treatments under the supervision of physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals. Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment in the aquatic therapy area. Assist with client transfers, exercise supervision, and equipment maintenance. This role requires compassion, attention to detail, and a commitment to client well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physiotherapists and other clinical staff during hydrotherapy sessions.
  • Supervise clients in the pool, ensuring adherence to exercise protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain the hydrotherapy pool area, including checking water quality and cleanliness.
  • Assist with safe client transfers into and out of the pool.
  • Monitor client comfort and respond to immediate needs during sessions.
  • Maintain accurate client records and session documentation as required.
  • Ensure all hydrotherapy equipment is clean, functional, and stored properly.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and infection control policies.

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
  • Physical stamina and strength for assisting with client transfers and pool duties.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated empathy and patience when working with clients with diverse needs.
  • Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare support role, especially in rehabilitation or aquatic environments.
  • Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant or related program.
  • Certification in Water Safety or Lifeguarding (e.g., NLS).
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.
