Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Care Home General Porter to join our friendly team at our Cardiff Bay location. This crucial role involves supporting the smooth operation of our care home, with a particular focus on enhancing the daily lives of our elderly residents. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure our environment is safe, comfortable, and well-maintained. This position offers a flexible roster to accommodate work-life balance while ensuring consistent, high-quality support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the movement of residents, equipment, and supplies throughout the care home.
- Undertake general maintenance and minor repair tasks as directed by the management.
- Ensure communal areas and resident rooms are tidy and well-presented.
- Handle deliveries and manage storage of goods, including food and laundry.
- Provide compassionate and respectful assistance to residents, supporting their mobility and comfort as needed.
- Support the care team with non-nursing duties to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and care home policies.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.
- Assist with setting up and clearing down communal spaces for activities and meals.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of residents and their families.
Required Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks (e.g., lifting, moving equipment).
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work various shifts.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Positive attitude and a genuine desire to help others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a care home, hospital, or similar environment.
- Basic First Aid certification.
- Experience in general maintenance or porter duties.
