Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse to join our dynamic team in Downtown Ventura. This critical role involves assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, providing expert patient care, and operating advanced medical equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation, ensuring comprehensive coverage for emergent cardiac cases. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including coronary angiography, angioplasty, stent placement, and pacemaker insertions.
- Monitor patient hemodynamics, EKG, and vital signs throughout procedures, promptly recognizing and responding to changes.
- Operate and troubleshoot a variety of complex equipment, including but not limited to, hemodynamic monitoring systems, IVUS, FFR, IABP, and other interventional devices.
- Administer medications safely and accurately as ordered by the physician.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care, procedures, and medication administration.
- Participate in the on-call rotation schedule, responding promptly to emergent cases.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, technologists, and other healthcare team members.
- Educate patients and families on procedures, post-procedure care, and lifestyle modifications.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab or Interventional Radiology setting.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency with Cath Lab equipment and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Availability to participate in an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
- Experience with advanced interventional procedures and structural heart cases.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
- Ability to precept new staff and contribute to team development.
