Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Haul Specialist to join our dynamic team in Hialeah, FL. This critical role involves coordinating and executing the safe and efficient transportation of oversize and overweight loads across various regions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of heavy haul logistics, permit regulations, route planning, and safety protocols. This position offers relocation assistance for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate the transportation of oversize and overweight loads, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Obtain necessary permits and escorts for specialized transport routes.
- Conduct detailed route surveys to identify potential obstacles and ensure safe passage.
- Liaise with customers, drivers, and external agencies to ensure smooth operation from dispatch to delivery.
- Manage and maintain specialized heavy haul equipment.
- Implement and enforce strict safety standards and best practices.
- Document all aspects of heavy haul operations, including permits, routes, and incident reports.
- Provide guidance and support to drivers on complex hauling assignments.
- Utilize advanced tracking and communication systems to monitor shipments in real-time.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy haul transportation or specialized logistics.
- Proven knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to oversize/overweight loads.
- Strong understanding of permitting processes and requirements.
- Excellent route planning and logistical coordination abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret road maps, blueprints, and load specifications.
- Proficiency in communication and documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record (preferred, but not strictly required for specialists who primarily coordinate).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Certifications in transportation safety or heavy haul operations.
- Experience with specialized heavy haul software or routing tools.
- Familiarity with Hialeah, FL, and Florida's specific transportation regulations.
