Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Printing Press Operator to join our dynamic team in Kamloops. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our printing presses, producing high-quality print materials according to client specifications and deadlines. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various printing equipment, performing quality checks, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate offset, digital, or other printing presses efficiently and safely.
- Monitor print quality, colour accuracy, and registration throughout the production run.
- Perform routine maintenance on printing equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Load paper, ink, and other materials as required, ensuring proper stock levels.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and perform adjustments to ensure optimal press performance.
- Review job specifications and adjust press settings to meet exact client requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with graphic designers and finishing teams to ensure seamless workflow.
- Document production activities and report any malfunctions or quality deviations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Printing Press Operator or similar role.
- Proficiency in operating various printing technologies (e.g., offset, digital presses).
- Strong understanding of colour theory, ink properties, and paper types.
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications and technical manuals.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and basic equipment maintenance.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a printing or graphic arts vocational program.
- Experience with specific press brands or models relevant to our operations.
- Familiarity with graphic design software for pre-press adjustments.
- Certification in press operation or print production.
- Experience in a fast-paced commercial printing environment.
