Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated student to gain hands-on experience in facilities maintenance and contribute to the upkeep of our school campuses. The Weekend Student Maintenance Aide will assist the maintenance team with various tasks, ensuring our facilities remain safe, clean, and functional for students and staff. This role is ideal for individuals looking to apply basic handyman skills in a structured environment while pursuing their studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting, and general upkeep.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for weekend events.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and report issues.
- Support groundskeeping activities, including light landscaping and debris removal.
- Help ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures in all tasks.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team on larger projects as needed.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of general handyman tasks (e.g., minor repairs, painting).
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform manual labor.
- Reliable transportation to various school sites within the district.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in a high school or vocational program in Chula Vista/San Diego area.
- Previous experience in a similar maintenance or handy-person role (even volunteer or personal projects).
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in maintenance.
