Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Maintenance Porter to join our team in Truro. This essential role ensures our hotel facilities remain in excellent condition, providing a safe and pleasant environment for our guests and staff. If you have basic handyman skills, a ‘can-do’ attitude, and are ready to be supplied with the tools you need to succeed, we encourage you to apply. You’ll be responsible for a variety of tasks, from minor repairs to general upkeep, playing a vital role in the smooth operation of our hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on hotel equipment and facilities.
- Execute minor repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical fixes, painting, and carpentry.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and guests.
- Ensure all public areas, back-of-house, and guest rooms are kept to a high standard of repair and cleanliness.
- Assist with moving furniture, deliveries, and setup for events as required.
- Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment, reporting any shortages.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and security policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
Required Skills
- Proven basic handyman skills across various trades (e.g., painting, minor plumbing, simple electrical work).
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively (tools provided).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical stamina to handle demanding tasks and lift moderate weights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel or facilities maintenance role.
- A relevant vocational qualification or certification.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to property maintenance.
