Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented WFH Finance Officer specializing in Payroll & Invoicing to join our remote team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong foundation in finance and a keen eye for accuracy to contribute to our robust financial operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll, managing vendor invoices, and supporting various financial reconciliation tasks, all from the comfort of your home office. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a strong understanding of financial principles, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Manage and process accounts payable, including vendor invoice verification, coding, and payment scheduling.
  • Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures related to payroll and accounts payable.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure seamless financial operations.
  • Assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within payroll and invoicing functions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, with a focus on payroll and accounts payable.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Ceridian) and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, tax regulations, and accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with large enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and analysis.
