Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Retail Security Officer to join our team at our prominent Reading store. This is a static post role with stable hours, offering a predictable schedule and a consistent working environment. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and security of our premises, customers, and colleagues, contributing to a positive shopping experience for everyone. This role requires vigilance, professionalism, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a highly visible and professional presence to deter theft and anti-social behaviour.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarms to detect and respond to security incidents promptly.
- Conduct regular patrols of the store premises, including sales floor, back rooms, and external areas.
- Respond effectively to security breaches, emergencies, and customer incidents in accordance with company policy.
- Assist in the prevention and detection of shoplifting, apprehending offenders where necessary and following correct procedures.
- Provide clear and accurate reports on all security-related incidents.
- Collaborate with store management and local law enforcement when required.
- Offer excellent customer service, assisting shoppers with queries and providing a reassuring presence.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Support the opening and closing procedures of the store from a security perspective.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a security role, preferably within a retail environment.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Proficiency in written English for incident reporting.
- A strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
- Basic knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding license.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience with CCTV monitoring systems.
- Previous experience working in a large retail store.
- Customer service experience.
